I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor and a member in good standing with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors.  I hold BSc and MEd degrees from the University of British Columbia, a MC degree from City University of Seattle, and a PhD in Educational Psychology from Simon Fraser University. In addition to being a counsellor, I am also a faculty member at Kwantlen Polytechnic University where I teach counselling psychology courses.

My background includes over 25 years of working with children, youth, and families as a teacher, secondary vice principal, elementary counsellor, and district principal in the K-12 public school system.  This experience has grounded my belief that all clients have the strengths and ability to make positive changes in their lives. I have worked extensively with families, couples, and individuals dealing with issues related to differing abilities, depression, anxiety, acculturation, divorce, life transitions, trauma, sexual orientation, and gender identity.

I practice a client-centred approach to therapy.  This means that you, the client, ultimately decide the outcome, goals, and direction of the therapy.  After my Master’s program, I have sought additional training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Hypnosis, Narrative Therapy, Gottman Couples Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. The techniques we ultimately choose will be based on your strengths, needs, and goals.

Please contact me with your questions or to discuss how we might work together to make the changes that will help get you where you want to be.
